Our Responsibility |
| |
| |
|
We at Morawaka Estate understand our responsibility to our community. We are already working hand-in-hand with Healing Hands Women’s organization of Matara. We have a school for the underprivileged and unfortunate children in the nearby area.
This school also has a catch-up program for the children who are having trouble in school, and others who are falling behind. Medical camps, Eye camps and other social service projects are also a regular occurrence at the Plantation; with the support of local social service organizations such as the Lions Club.
Morawaka Estate which originated in the latter parts of the 19th Century is truly a family tradition. The plantation which was started by the Great Grand Father of Sumedha Kulatunga and then passed through two generations is being carried on in the same humble yet progressive way as before by Sumedha and his wife Kumari.

|
The tradition of manufacturing the finest quality tea using the best of the Green Leaf continue to this day. The tradition of taking care of the team of workers is also given priority and continued by Sumedha and Kumari.
The wonderful brother and sister team of Edward and Charlotte Lewis of Kensington Investments Co LLc of Boston joined this historic company and are now in an endeavour to take the product with the resounding name of Morawaka to the USA and the World. |
